Maternal instinct plus nothing to do

Adele and Emma just received their report cards; each girl earned no less than 96% in every single category. This is tremendously exciting and merits, due mostly to a gorgeously sunny day and my classes being canceled today, a bike ride around the city so I can go procure some kind of treat for them. Today, instead of carrying out the lesson we were going to, Emma and I will go sit outside and read Junie B. Jones. And take off our shoes and chomp on bubble gum — which, let it be known, are two of the most desired activities for little girls between the ages of six and eight in private school.
